Gravity!

Gravity by Jaybird Quilts
Our Gravity class with Kelly has come to an end
and quite a few of us landed with finished quilt tops!!!

This is Kelly's Gravity
Made completely with Grunge :0)
which was a challenge in itself, as her color pallet was limited to the collection.
Kelly pulled it off... well done!

Mary Ann's Gravity
done in Kona solids following Jaybirds pattern to a T
and Mary Ann is new to quilting! Wow!!!

This beauty is Lynne's Gravity
following the color wheel concept of the pattern
all done in batiks for the star/diamond center
and a very pretty and sparkly fabric collection for the background.
Lynne you shine!!!

... and then there were those of us
that follow the philosophy...
"You're not the boss of me!!!"
and choose not to follow the directions 🌟

Here is Sandy's Gravity
Love it! Sandy also changed the background layout 🌞
Sandy you are a star, so enjoyed meeting you!

This was made by a surprise visitor... Carol
Very different in neutrals
with gold sparkle fabric for the star and white on white for the background.
Carol is one of my favorite customers. She did not join in the class
however, was making Gravity at the same time.
Last week surprised me when she brought her Gravity into my studio to be quilted!!!
She agreed to let me bring her top into class to share and then dropped by
on her way home to meet everyone and see our quilt tops. That was fun!
Carol, I hope you join us one of these days

This is my Gravity
The star/diamond blocks are all batiks
with a background that starts with Kona black
then goes into shades of gray with Grunge
#GravityQuilt

Now for the job of quilting a few of these beauties!
I have lots of design ideas floating around in my head 😵
There were a few more folks in the class that were finishing their tops in class
so there will be more stars shinning in Chico soon! 🌟

Kelly has new classes, workshops and BOMs in the works.
Next up is Fancy Forest by Elizabeth Hartman
plus some pretty kewl Kaffe projects visiting Italy!
Kelly always adds fun info to entertain us while we sew.
Come join in!

Also coming up is Painted Forest starting this month.
A pattern from Scott Hansen of Blue Nickel Studios
My class sample is hanging up at Honey Run Quilters
All classes and workshops are held in the classroom.
Sign up inside Honey Run if you are interested
plus there are LOTs more classes from beginning quilting and UFOs with Terri, a project bag and rope bowls with Dorrie, Pam has a Spring Basket quilt class coming up soon, Karen has a wool project in the works. Terri has a few more projects up her sleeve as well, the Fat Skinny Bag is a favorite. Pillow cases. Garments with Rebecca. Sewing machine classes. Between Cathy's and Honey Run, they have it covered! HERE is the entire class list on Cathy's website. Hope to see you there!

November Goals

Goals for November:
Back to Gypsy Wife... I've actually missed working on this quilt :0) Will be fun to get back to it this month with the hopes of a flimsy finish.

Split Decision. Guild meeting last night with guest speaker Don Linn. Turned in my finished... yes finished Challenge quilt! BIG YEA! Today I attended Don's workshop on curved piecing. Quilt top almost completed to a flimsy in class! Just a few more seams to finish tomorrow at a sew day with friends up in Paradise. Looking forward to that.

Painted Forest workshop this week was filled. There will be a bonus sew day this coming Sunday... Everyone signed up for the first workshop is invited for a fun day growing trees!

Gravity. Continued workshops thru the end of the year with Kelly at HRQ for Jaybird's block of the month ~ Gravity. Only two blocks into it, pix soon of progress with two meetings this month. My fabric choices are batiks ranging from gold to purple for the star, not doing the complete color wheel and shades of gray in Grunge for the background.

 Enjoy your weekend...
and don't forget to set your clocks back an hour
 (where applicable ;0)

Rows of Toes!

Toes in the Sand

Making good progress with my quilting projects this week! One reason... the summer temps :0( it's been triple digits all this week... yuck! Too hot to run my longarm computer except in the early early mornings. It's not even 6 am and it's 80 degrees outside already :0( The studio hitting 90 by late afternoon. Sew, I've been spending the afternoons working on my Toes in the Sand and Gypsy Wife, sewing in the house (my studio is not air conditioned) or, as I have the last two days, with friends sewing at Cathy's/Honey Run Quilters classroom. Thank you Dan for keeping us nice and cool! Plus, Dan came in and helped me get my Singer Featherweight running. Yea!

In June a herd of us started Toes in the Sand with Kelly at Honey Run Quilters. Toes is a quilt from Jaybird using the Hex and More ruler designed by Julie @ Jaybird Quilts. As a very traditional quilter, this has been a really fun project to make new shapes... allot of them! Hexies, triangles, half hexies and jewels. We are getting close to finishing our tops, a few like Linda with two finished! I'm getting close with this one :0) and a second in batiks that will be finished during the August meets. Here are a few of the 'blocks' in progress...

with a little fussy cutting going on :0)

Allot of fun working out of my box both with shapes and color! Texture too :0) Still keeping my hands busy with Civil War fabrics! This month Karen, Barb and I started Gypsy Wife, mine in CW. That is quite the project! Right now we are working on the 'filler' blocks, more on that later. For now, off to get longarm work done before it gets too hot. Have the whole house fans on trying to pull as much of the cool air into my studio as possible before the sun is up. Happy Friday! Tot ziens, Jo
